Expert Commercial Law FAQs

At Expert Commercial Law, we connect businesses and individuals with experienced solicitors and legal professionals who specialise in commercial law matters.

Whether you are dealing with unpaid invoices, shareholder disputes, contract issues, or wider business disputes, our role is to help you find the right legal expertise quickly and efficiently.

Below are some of the most common questions we receive about how we work and how we can help.

What does Expert Commercial Law do?

Expert Commercial Law is a specialist platform that connects clients with solicitors and legal professionals experienced in commercial law.

We do not provide legal advice directly. Instead, we help businesses and individuals access the right legal support for matters such as debt recovery, shareholder disputes, commercial litigation, contract disputes, and other business-related legal issues.

Our focus is on ensuring clients are introduced to professionals with the right expertise for their specific situation.

Do you provide legal advice directly?

No. Expert Commercial Law does not act as a law firm and does not provide legal advice directly.

Our role is to understand your situation and connect you with solicitors and legal professionals who are best placed to assist. This ensures you receive advice from specialists with relevant experience in your type of matter.

What types of commercial law issues can you help with?

We work across a wide range of commercial law matters, including:

Many clients contact us because a dispute has already arisen, but we also connect businesses with professionals who can help prevent disputes before they escalate.

Can you help with debt recovery?

Yes. Debt recovery is one of the most common reasons clients contact us.

We can connect you with solicitors and legal professionals who assist with recovering unpaid invoices, issuing letters before action, obtaining County Court Judgments (CCJs), statutory demands, winding up petitions, and enforcement action where payment is still not made.

Early action often improves recovery prospects significantly.

Can you help with shareholder disputes?

Yes. We regularly assist clients dealing with shareholder disputes, shareholder deadlock, director disagreements, and issues involving minority shareholder rights.

These disputes can quickly affect the ability of a business to function, so getting the right legal support early is important.

We connect clients with solicitors experienced in resolving these issues efficiently and commercially.

How much do commercial litigation solicitors charge?

Costs depend on the type of matter, the complexity of the dispute, and the value of the claim.

Most firms we work with offer either:

  • Hourly rates for more complex or ongoing matters
  • Fixed fees in certain circumstances, particularly for specific stages of work such as reviewing documents, sending formal letters, or issuing claims

Many of the firms in our network deal with very high-value commercial claims, but they also assist with smaller claims where legal action is proportionate and commercially sensible.

The key is ensuring the legal strategy is cost effective and aligned with the value of the dispute.

Do solicitors only deal with high-value claims?

No. While many firms handle significant commercial litigation and high-value disputes, they also deal with smaller claims where legal support is appropriate.

For example, unpaid invoices, contract disputes, and business disagreements can vary significantly in value. What matters most is whether legal action is commercially worthwhile.

We help ensure clients are connected with professionals who are appropriate for both the complexity and value of the matter.

Is there a fixed fee option for debt recovery?

In some cases, yes.

Certain debt recovery matters, particularly straightforward unpaid invoice claims, may be suitable for fixed fees or structured fee arrangements, such as a no win, no fee.

More complex disputes, defended claims, or high-value litigation are more likely to be handled on an hourly rate basis.

This depends on the circumstances of the case and the firm involved.

How quickly can you connect me with a solicitor?

We aim to make the process as straightforward and efficient as possible.

Once we understand your issue, we can usually connect you with an appropriate solicitor or legal professional quickly, particularly for urgent matters such as injunctions, debt recovery, or shareholder disputes where early action is critical.

Do you only work with businesses in the North West?

No. While we work with many firms and clients in the North West, our network covers businesses and legal professionals across the UK.

This allows us to connect clients with the right expertise regardless of location, while still offering access to professionals with local knowledge where needed.

How do you choose the solicitors in your network?

We focus on relevance, experience, and commercial understanding.

We work with solicitors and legal professionals who understand the practical realities of business disputes and who can provide advice that is proportionate, strategic, and commercially focused.

Our aim is not simply to make introductions, but to ensure those introductions are meaningful and appropriate.

Is your service free for clients?

Yes. Our role is to connect clients with the right legal professionals, and there is no charge for making that introduction.

We work with solicitors and legal professionals on a referral basis, which means we may charge firms for passing on relevant enquiries. However, this should never affect the fees a solicitor charges you for their legal services. Solicitors will still assess your matter independently and confirm their own pricing structure based on the complexity, value, and nature of the case.

Most firms we work with offer either hourly rates or fixed fees in certain circumstances, depending on the type of work involved. Many of the firms in our network handle both high-value commercial disputes and smaller claims where legal action is proportionate.

If you would like more information about how our referral arrangements work or the typical fee structures used by firms in our network, you can contact us directly at info@expertcommerciallaw.co.uk.

Can law firms join your network?

Yes. We work with solicitors, law firms, and other legal professionals who want to receive relevant commercial law enquiries and increase their visibility.

We offer opportunities including pay-per-accepted-lead arrangements, percentage-based models on successful matters, and directory listing options.

Our focus is on quality enquiries and commercially viable work.

Why choose Expert Commercial Law?

We understand both sides of the legal process.

Clients need fast access to trusted legal support, and legal professionals need relevant, high-quality enquiries. With over 10 years of experience in and around the legal sector, we have built a strong network of professionals who can assist with a wide range of commercial disputes and business legal matters.

Our role is to make those connections simple, efficient, and commercially effective.
